Loreena McKennitt-esque music: especially like her The Mask and the Mirror or The Book of Secrets albums--Rooted in real instruments, more world music driven than New Age, please.
Early Carly Rae Jepsen-esque music: Pop recommendations along the lines of her E*mo*tion album

E-MO-TION is *such* a good album--actually my favourite of all time, haha. Here are some choices I also like that are similar!

Albums

• Tension by Kylie Minogue - Hits a lot of the same spots for me as E-MO-TION in terms of songwriting and lyricism and nostalgia; obviously Padam's was the song that really made it big, but the rest of the album is worth listening to, too.


• SAWAYAMA by Rina Sawayama - Which I'm sure you've already heard, but is worth the recommendation all the same! Rina's music is SO great; hits that pop itch on the back of my brain that I really enjoy.


• Desire, I Want To Turn Into You by Caroline Polachek - Caroline has a much less sweet voice than Carly's, which I would say is one of her defining features; nevertheless, I think this album is GREAT and would recommend the listen.


• What's Your Pleasure? by Jessie Ware - Again, Jessie has a very different vocal tone, but there are a lot of upbeat bangers on this album (none as good as Run Away With Me--although damn, what a bar to hurdle). This album is very close to a no-skip for me.


• Troubled Paradise by Slayyyter - Totally random rec here, but I personally really like it for how delightfully Pop™️ it is, which reminds me of E-MO-TION.


• Clarity by Kim Petras - Similar to Troubled Paradise above, just pure sugar-sweet pop goodness.


• The Happy Star by Lexie Liu - As you listen to k-pop, I think a mando-pop rec isn't too far afield? This is just a really good pop album; my personal favourite (atm--it changes daily!) is MAGICIAN.

Songs

• No One Dies From Love by Tove Lo - Great song, catchy chorus, 100/10 music video.


• Dancing On My Own by Robyn - I very much doubt you haven't heard this song, but if you haven't, prepare to be introduced to the goddess of upbeat pop about terribly sad things.

And SAME! I saw Carly last year on her European tour, and while I think Dedicated is her best since, E*MO*TION and Side B are, as you said, unparalleled. Unbeatable. Run Away With Me is the best pop song ever. I do not take critique.
